The New Colony announces it's "Paper for Plastic" donation drive

The show is Tupperware: An American Musical Fable, produced by The New Colony, and we believe our first season's finale musical should have live music in it, and you can help. First, who we are:

The show is Tupperware: An American Musical Fable, produced by The New Colony, and we believe our First Season Finale should have live music in it. Don't you? We're hoping to raise an additional $2,500 to cover the costs of live musicians and we'll be live-blogging our progress through Twitter and Facebook. As we get closer to our goal we'll be releasing all sorts of Tupperware exclusives like video clips, rehearsal photos, and our environmentally friendly e-Playbill! We've got to reach our goal by opening night of July 13th! So follow the instructions at the bottom of the page to give a tax-deductible donation today.

Yes! And despite the financial demands typical to a start-up company and opening our first two productions in the worst recession in a generation, The New Colony continues to operate debt-free and very frugally. We have been very responsible with our limited resources. Currently, none of our artistic directors or officers are compensated for the time and work they give to make The New Colony successful. Our actors and designers receive small stipends for their work, but it usually equates to pennies an hour. All of us do what we do for The New Colony because we are excited about what we create and believe we are making the artistic world a better and more exciting place.

Internet giant Google agrees with us! The New Colony just received an in-kind donation from Google that equates to $120,000 in free ad-words advertising for a year. In response to this great gift, we will be re-launching and re-branding our website this summer. With Google's advertising power at our disposal and our award winning writers and music director (2008 FringeNYC award for Outstanding Music and Lyrics and three After Dark awards among others), we are poised to make our biggest impact yet with the opening of Tupperware, but there is just one thing.....

Despite our budgetary discipline, producing and opening an original musical with original songs is especially expensive. We have an extra cast of characters in the form of musicians, and that's why we're announcing our Tupperware Music for the Musical Donation Drive!

Everyone benefits when a musical has musicians! The audience claps! The singers sing!

Your $25 donation will pay for the stipend of one musician for one performance of Tupperware. Your contribution is tax deductible, and you'll have the warm fuzzy feeling that you helped a daddy get new strings for his baby. You would also, of course, be invited to come see Tupperware and notice that $25 is not that much for such a talented group. Again, we have a lot of great people who are just excited about what we do and believe in our potential. Join us!
